HONORARY DOCTORATE

SWISS EDUCATION

Program Overview

At SISBM, we are honored to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments and contributions of individuals through our Honorary Doctorate program in partnership with prestigious institutions. This esteemed accolade is granted to outstanding professionals, scholars, and leaders who have made significant impacts on society, industry, and the academic world.

An honorary doctorate is the highest award conferred by the SISBM (The Swiss International school of Business and Management). An honorary doctorate constitutes recognition of distinctive achievement that has added materially to knowledge and to the betterment of society.

Recipients of Honorary Doctoral Degrees do not earn the degree through academic achievements; rather they receive these awards based on generous and altruistic actions or lifetime accomplishments that benefit a community, nation, or humanity in general. Some schools allow candidates to apply for consideration for the degree, while others require nomination by a third party. Each university that confers honorary degrees establishes its own criteria for acceptance.

HONORARY DOCTORATE

SCOPE & OPPORTUNITIES

Universities typically award honorary degrees to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the school or to society. In many cases, the holder of an honorary doctorate already has considerable education and experience in the degree field

Receiving an honorary degree, especially from a major university, is an impressive recognition of one’s talents and contributions. An honorary doctorate can bring recognition to its holder in the public sphere, and is an asset in finding a job in the recipient’s field. However, most honorary degree recipients already enjoy enough public recognition that the degree merely emphasizes the qualifications they already have.

Receiving an honorary doctorate qualifies its holder to use the title “Dr.” in front of his name, though some find this demeaning to those who hold earned doctorates. Some holders of honorary doctorates use “Dr.” to emphasize their credentials and earn extra publicity.
